I am still in disbelief. I met Dez as a freshman at Lawrence University. Dez was a junior and was my big brother on campus. I was immediately impressed by his quick wit and brilliance. His mind worked like nothing I had ever witnessed before. He loved life. I mean he really loved life and I don't recall a single time he ever displayed anything but that huge smile. There were few African-American students on the LU campus in those days and Dez taught us all how to navigate and survive by recognizing individuals not race. I followed his career achievements and took great inspiration from him. I have no doubt he is seated at the right hand of our Father smiling down on his family. My prayers are with his wife and children. Your husband and father was a remarkable person.
