Like so many who have posted here, I found Dez' intellect impressive and his charm delightful, and I deeply regret that we didn't have more time together. Most of all, though, as I remember the time I introduced him to Michael Fehling and they got to talking about jazz (Michael was and is a most accomplished jazz musician in addition to his eminence as a cognitive scientist), I wish Dez had taken Michael up on his invitation, "Bring your horn next time and we'll jam!" I'm betting Dez' sax riffs were as good as his verbal ones, and I'd have paid good money to hear that session. Maybe Gabriel needed a sax player. RIP, friend.
